PPG Industries Inc, the coatings giant has been honored for its significant achievements in developing the OLED technology. It received the award at the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) R&D Workshop 2013 held in Long Beach, California. This prestigious honor was bestowed by the United States Department of Energy (DOE). PPG exclusively received this recognition for its accomplishments in the field of OLED lighting at the seminar that was attended by almost 300 manufacturers, researchers, and other individuals from the industries who have contributed in promoting this SSL technology.

Lighting Science Group Corporation (LSGC), a popular and world acclaimed producer of advanced LED lighting has announced that it will be developing an innovative light emitting diode system to regulate the circadian rhythms of astronauts. The company said that it was contacted by none other than The Bionetics Corporation to support in the production of an LED solution meant for the International Space Station or ISS. The Boeing Company, which is the main supplier to NASA for its ISS division, initiated this project along with The Bionetics Corporation to develop a lighting system that will assist in circadian alignment of the astronauts in the International Space Station.
