LG has made a new announcement and it is that the company will soon release the first ever OLED display for mobile phones. According to a report published in Wall Street Journal, the flexible OLED display of the LG smartphones will be bendable and shatter-proof. However, there is a hope that the new devices will be able to save the smartphones from damage when they are dropped by users.

PPG Industries Inc, the coatings giant has been honored for its significant achievements in developing the OLED technology. It received the award at the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) R&D Workshop 2013 held in Long Beach, California. This prestigious honor was bestowed by the United States Department of Energy (DOE). PPG exclusively received this recognition for its accomplishments in the field of OLED lighting at the seminar that was attended by almost 300 manufacturers, researchers, and other individuals from the industries who have contributed in promoting this SSL technology.
